Book Review: Can Love Happen Twice by Ravinder Singh

The USP of the novel is a mushy romance in the core of it.

Next in the series to ‘I Too Had a Love Story‘, Can Love Happen Twice by Ravinder Singh is Ravinder Singh’s (a fictional account though) second attempt at love with an Indian girl in Belgium.

While the first book was loved for its honesty and innocence, the second one appears to be deliberate and way too dramatic. However, the author deserves some accolades for creating some good romantic sequences between the lead pair. The storyline, otherwise is ordinary. Once again, Ravinder relies on simple language and small sentences to tell a simple, somewhat sweet somewhat sour story to his fans.

The story begins (go ahead no spoilers) with Ravin’s friends meeting at Red FM’s office in Chandigarh. They are meeting there to narrate the second book of Ravin who, currently, is being treated for depression in a mental health facility, thanks to the second heartbreak after Khushi’s. Don’t worry the girl is alive this time (chuckles).

Can Love Happen Twice by Ravinder Singh runs like a quintessential potboiler , purposely written to capitalize and encash the sympathy and popularity he has garned with his first book, I too had a Love story.

During the descriptions inside the Red FM office, Ravin has been painted as a larger than life character which appears unnecessary and unbelievable. The USP of the novel would remain mushy romance in the core of it, which would appeal to teenagers. Ravin has been portrayed as a lover who loses mental balance after losing his love but is not ready to compromise on his duties and responsibilties towards his parents.

Book has nothing new to offer but college students, new lovers would love it as they would be able to associate them with the nayakGo read it for Ravin. Voracious readers who like well-researched, mature reads can/should give it a miss.

  4. Thank you for this review. I only wish I had seen this sooner. I just wasted 3 hours of my life reading this book!
I only finished the book because I hate leaving a book that I started reading, unfinished. But as I got to the last page, I could actually sense half the grey matter in my brain cells die. Now, I wonder how many ‘good’ books I will have to read to undo the damage!

  5. Hai im kiruba i love ravins intention of teling meaning of what is life and what is relationship. Though his words are free the message is highly significant for todays youngsters. Simply one canot find fault with anyone. Everyone must read ravins books not to justify his language but to understand ethics of life. Sir i was really moved by your plot and your feelings on justifying the way simars concept of life. She is truely a by product of western influence.
